April 12, 2012 Qualifications Standing behind a till last night, there was an occasional moment to take a breath (it was a weeknight after all) and I idly picked up a book on display by a Dr Michael Savage. According to the blurbs on the jacket, he has master's degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology, and a PhD in epidemiology and nutrition sciences, which no doubt qualifies him to tell us, says the front flap, that "Obama is transforming us into a second-class nation, with communists and islamists given free reign..." April 12, 2012 Taking a break We're going away for a few days -- Ethne has to give a lecture in Williamsburg Virginia so we're taking our lazy way down there and visiting friends along the way. I know I had a generously filled LP of tracks by the Chuck Wagon Gang, a country gospel close-harmony group whose sound I have loved ever since I first heard them on Randy Blake's Suppertime Frolic; I think the album came from the Country Music Foundation, and I wanted to make a copy of it for a friend, but I looked for it for an hour yesterday and couldn't find it. I've got to get out of this basement.
