This old house was only a few blocks from the state Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin. All the neighborhood cats lived in the basement during the winter. The house has long since been torn down, but in 1972 there were AR2ax speakers in the front room, and a lot of good music was heard there.

Cecil Taylor: Whew! What a giant!

A nice day. Mowed the lawn this morning, had a shower, played with my records all day. Dubbed two two-record sets by Cecil Taylor to my hard disc, and I'll tell you, eight LP sides by Cecil Taylor is a workout for the ears, especially his duet with drummer Max Roach in 1979 and Columbia University. How can one man play so much piano? There's a good story in my entry for Cecil, here.
