(b 26 Nov. '62, Dodson TX) Big-voiced country singer who came to prominence '93 when she duetted with Reba McEntire on the no. 1 Grammy-winning country hit 'Does He Love You'. Previously Davis had worked the Louisiana Hayride and Grapevine Opry, moving to Nashville '82 and teaming with Skip Eaton as Skip and Linda for minor country hits '82--3; Davis then went solo singing jingles, song demos and in piano bars. Signed with Epic '88 ('All The Good Ones Are Taken'), Capitol '91 ('In A Different Light'). Taken under McEntire's wing '92 as backup singer and now signed to Arista, she is beginning to emerge as a major star ('Company Time', 'Some Things Are Meant To Be'). Albums incl.
