FOSTER and RICE

Country music songwriters with over 60 ASCAP awards for hit songs. Jerry Gaylon Foster (b 19 Nov. '35, Tallapoosa MO) was rockabilly artist with records on small Texas labels, met aspiring singer Bill Rice; they formed partnership '59. First songs recorded by Dickey Lee; moved to Nashville '64, wrote hits for George Jones, Charley Pride ('The Easy Part's Over' '68), Johnny Paycheck ('Song And Dance Man' '73), Jerry Lee Lewis ('39 And Holding' '80), many more. Split up '80. Rice now writes with his wife, Sharon; Foster concentrated on performing. Both have made solo records, Rice on Capitol '73, Foster on Cinnamon '73, Hitsville '76, Monument '78, Kari '80, neither with much success, though Foster had a following in Europe for his rockabilly style.
