Versatile musician has played, recorded with Paul Bley and Chick Corea trios, Anthony Braxton, bluesman Buddy Guy, also Julius Hemphill (Coon Bid'ness '75). Worked in Europe with Johnny Griffin, Steve Lacy, etc. Own LPs incl. You Can't Name Your Own Tune '77, with Sam Rivers, George Lewis, Muhal Richard Abrams, Dave Holland; Another Time/Another Place '78; For Stu '79, all on Muse; Brahma '80, trio set with bass, trombone on Sackville; Irina '83, That's Nice '85, Lido (co-led with Claudio Fasoli and others) all on Soul Note.
