To Nashville after high school; contracts first as songwriter, then singer; to WB with small hits: 'I've Got A Feelin' (Somebody's Stealin')' '77 through 'Your Lying Blue Eyes' '79; then top ten with '1959' '80 and no. ones with 'Wild And Blue' '82 and 'Swingin' ' '83 (also crossed to pop and named CMA Singles of the Year), 'Black Sheep' '83. Further top tens through '86; switched to MCA '87, then Universal '89, but hits stopped. Then back to no. 1 on BNA with 'Straight Tequila Night', 'When It Comes To You' (Mark Knopfler song) and 'Seminole Wind' top tens, all '92; 'Money In The Bank' no. 1 '93.
