(b Norman Jean Beasler, 30 Jan. '38, Wellston OK) Modern-styled straight country singer, popular in '60s. Began on radio, TV in Oklahoma City '56, joined Ozark Jubilee '58-60, sang with Billy Gray, Merle Linsley, Leon McAuliffe bands. To Nashville '60, joined Porter Wagoner show, signed to Columbia, then RCA '63: country top 10 with "Let's Go All The Way' '64. Other hits: "Go Cat Go' '64, "I Wouldn't Buy A Used Car From Him' '65, "Heaven Help The Poor Working Girl' '67. She semi-retired '65 to spend more time with her family, replaced on Wagoner show by Dolly Parton.
