LEWIS, Bobby

(b 17 Feb. '33, Indianapolis) R&B singer, pianist. Grew up in orphanage, learning piano from age five, moved with adoptive family to Detroit, became popular performer in Midwest. Recorded for many labels, incl. UA later, but his only hits were on Beltone '61: "Tossing And Turnin'' was no. 1, then "One Track Mind' no. 8 for a total of 20 weeks in the R&B chart.
