LITTLE TEXAS

Long-haired modern country band with a heavy rock image, comprising Tim Rushlow (lead vocals, guitar, mandolin), Duane Propes (vocals, bass), Dwayne O'Brien (vocals, guitar), Porter Howell (vocals, lead guitar), Del Gray (drums), Brady Seals (vocals, keyboards; left '95 for solo career). Rushlow and O'Brien played together in various bands in Arlington TX '84 (Rushlow's father Tom was lead singer of '60s group Moby Dick and the Whalers); pair moved to Nashville '87, teamed with fellow Texans Howell and Propes to form a new band, met Seals (nephew of songwriter Troy Seals, cousin to country stars Dan Seals and Johnny Duncan) and Gray, who were touring with Sandi Powell and Josh Logan. After name changes they settled on Little Texas and signed to WB '89; with rich two-, three-, four-part harmonies, three lead vocalists and a heavy rock beat they soon won a following. Debut single 'Some Guys Have All The Love' '91 and several more hit the country top ten: 'You And Forever And Me', 'What Might Have Been', 'God Blessed Texas' (crossed over to pop '93), 'My Love' (no. 1 '94), 'Life Goes On' '95. Albums were equally successful, incl. First Time For Everything '92, Big Time '93, Kick A Little '94, Greatest Hits '95 all on WB.
