McMILLAN, Terry

(b 12 October 1953, Lexington NC) Multi-instrumentalist (harmonica, guitar, drums, flute, piano), singer, songwriter, Nashville-based session player. Grew up in alcoholic family constantly on the move (he attended 13 different schools) and turned to music as a youngster; on the road with various bands '70-3; joined Eddy Raven's band in Nashville '73, then on the road with Chet Atkins '74-6; started session work on Steve Young's Renegade Picker and became one of Nashville's most in-demand harmonica players and percussionists; signed to RCA as a solo performer '81 but was not a distinctive singer. He concentrated on session work, occasional live shows and TV appearances on Live Aid (with Neil Young), Chet Atkins's Special, the Garth Brooks Special, etc; was chosen to be part of Packman's Dream Team Band which performed at President Clinton's Inaugural Ball '93 alongside Bruce Hornsby, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Carole King and Judy Collins. Albums include I've Got A Feeling '93 on Step One.
