OTIS, Johnny Jr 'Shuggie'

(b 30 November 1953, Los Angeles CA) Blues-rock guitarist, son of Johnny Otis (above). Played bass professionally at twelve, sessioned on bass, guitar, harmonica, keyboards at 13, including guitar on Johnny's album Cold Shot on Kent; sought out by Al Kooper for Kooper Session '68 on Columbia; own LPs Here Comes Shuggie Otis '70, Freedom Flight '71, Inspiration Information and Omaha Bar-B-Que '75 on Epic. He sessioned on bass on the Frank Zappa album Hot Rats, played on an LP by violinist Sugarcane Harris; has been mostly retired for personal reasons, except for session work on Johnny's Blues Spectrum label and appearances with 'The New Johnny Otis Show'.
