(b 8 Oct. '44, Eugene OR) Country singer who became one of the most successful female stars '70s. Sang in high school rock band; auditioned as country vocalist at KWAY Portland, leading to live morning show, afternoon disc jockey spot, local bookings and regular spot on Hoedown TV show. Spotted by Jack McFadden, manager of Buck Owens, joined Owens' touring show; Capitol contract led to hits, reaching top 10 '70 with "Willie Jones', many more top tens incl. duets with Owen '70-5. She was also a regular on national TV Hee-Haw show. When Owens left Capitol for WB she was without a contract; joined UA and had minor hits, recorded for other smaller labels but faded from charts. Relocated to Texas; album Then And Now '86 on Westexas.
