SEXTON, Charlie

(b '68, San Antonio TX) Guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, prodigy of mid-'80s. Allegedly played first professional gig at age 11, then deputised for guitarist in Joe Ely band at 13, subsequently recording with Bob Dylan, Don Henley (album Building The Perfect Beast), Keith Richard and Ron Wood (on film soundtrack Easy Street). Signed to MCA; debut album Pictures For Pleasure made top 20 '86, Charlie Sexton '89 did much less well. Bringing to mind a melange of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, he seemed destined for stardom, but only one more album was listed in catalogues '96 (by the Charlie Sexton Sextet): Under The Wishing Tree '95 was still on MCA. He appeared in film Thelma & Louise '91.
