In at the beginning of the revival period (see Jazz) a founder member with Lu Watters of the Yerba Buena Band late '30s, subsequently led his own Bob Scobey's 'Frisco Band '50s, with banjo and vocals by Clancy Hayes, playing a less authentic but charming good-timey music, intended to re-create turn-of-the-century West Coast rather than New Orleans. Five LPs on Good Time Jazz incl. two compilations of '50--53 tracks with Watters alumni Wally Rose on piano, Dick Lammi on bass ('Silver Dollar'/'Ace In The Hole' was a single that got some airplay '53); three albums '55--6, still with Hayes. Moved to Chicago early '60s, toured Europe with Harlem Globetrotters '63; died of cancer.
