ALDEBERT, Monique (Dozo)

(b 5 May 1931, Monaco) Jazz-influenced singer in French or English, solo or duo with husband Louis J. (b Egypt 24 January 1924, also piano, composer). She gigged in Paris in the 1950s; with group Double Six of Paris in the 1960s she toured Canada and visited the USA; when the group broke up in 1966 she played a year in Las Vegas, then moved to Los Angeles. She did TV and film work, wrote many songs and vocal arrangements of jazz instrumentals (e.g. Django Reinhardt's 'Nuages'). Her albums on European labels were arranged by the likes of Quincy Jones and Michel Legrand.
