(b 17 March '52, Minneapolis MN) Sweet-voiced country singer. Made start in musicals Hair '67, Jesus Christ Superstar '71; also Superstar LP, film '73. Married record producer Ray Huff, who started her in country music as background vocalist (later divorced). Signed to his Oak label, she made C&W chart with debut single "Baby, Don't Keep Me Hangin On' '77. Switched to Warner/ Curb for "Baby, Last Night Made My Day' '77; "Maybe Baby', "We Belong Together' '78; to Elektra with "Words', "Two Steps Forward And Three Steps Back' '79. Joined Liberty Records '80, then small TNP label '87; now based in L.A.
