CROCE, A. J.

(b Adrian James Croce, 28 September 1971, Philadelphia PA) Piano, singer, composer. Began playing at six, professional since early teens. Influenced by stride pianists and blues shouters from father Jim Croce's record collection, Croce specializes in exuberant but sophisticated and intelligent jump jazz with clever lyrics and rollicking rhythms. His debut album, A. J. Croce '93 on BMG/Private Music showcased a precociously witty talent, followed by That's Me In The Bar '95, with guests Ry Cooder, Waddy Wachtel, David Hidalgo.
