CLARK, Charles E.

(b 11 March 1945, Chicago; d there 15 April 1969) Bass, cello. He was a pupil of Wilbur Ware; also studied classical and played on scholarship in the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He played in the Experimental Band of Muhal Richard Abrams; a talented and popular founder member of AACM, he recorded with Abrams and Joseph Jarman '67-8; died of a brain haemorrhage. Art Ensemble Of Chicago dedicated A Jackson in Your House to him, including Roscoe Mitchell's 'Song for Charles'.
