(b 2 Dec. 1895, Woodland CA; d 28 May '62, Sherman Oaks) "The Poet of the Organ'; Wizard of the Wurlitzer'. Toured as dance band pianist as teenager; played organ at Gem Theatre Spokane '11, Graumann Theatre L.A. '18; in Chicago early '20s; resident at NYC Paramount Theatre '26-33, often with his wife on twin organs. Victor hit records in '20s incl. "Remember' '25, "At Dawning' '26, "At Sundown' '27, etc. Much radio and concert work '30s; formed sweet dance band '37-8, often with his wife on twin electric organs; recorded for Decca '40s-50s, with 20 LPs in '59 Schwann catalogue, but none in '97.
