Pop group formed Chicago '66. Lineup: Gary Loizzo (b 16 Aug. '45), vocals, guitar; Al Ciner (b 14 May '47), guitar; Charles "Chuck' Colbert (b 30 Aug. '44), bass; Lee Graziano (b 9 Nov. '43), drums. All born in Chicago, regionally popular as Gary & the Nite Lites, one flop single; changed name and label and had five hits '67-8; biggest "Bend Me Shape Me', USA top 5. Group then augmented by Kevin Murphy (keyboards) and Andre Fischer (drums), who left '72 to form Rufus with Chaka Khan.
