(b Donald Ralph Ewing, 6 March 1964, Redlands CA) Multi-instrumentalist and modern-day singer-songwriter with a soulful and energetic edge to his work. He wrote hits for George Jones, Reba McEntire, Collin Raye, Bryan White etc alongside his own successful recording career in the early 1990s. He grew up in Charleston SC and started songwriting in early teens, also appeared in stage musicals and playing banjo at bluegrass festivals. Performed as part of The Old Country at Busch Gardens VA, then landed at Opryland, Nashville '84. Signed as a writer with Acuff-Rose, got a recording contract with MCA and co- produced his own first album, The Coast Of Colorado '88. Top 10 country hits with 'I Don't Have Far To Fall', 'Burnin' A Hole In My Mind', 'It's You Again' '88-90. He changed labels to Capitol '91 but further major hits eluded him, though his songwriting still scored, providing Bryan White with the chart-topping 'Someone Else's Star' '95 and 'Rebecca Lynn' '96. Albums included The Will To Love '89 on MCA; Naturally '91 and Homegrown Love '93 on Capitol.
