KENNY G

(b Kenny Gorelick, 6 July 1956, Seattle WA) Saxophonist playing shopping-mall jazz lite. He played in Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra at 17, graduated with honours as an accountant and switched to playing music for accountants (that's probably a libel on accountants). His albums on Arista often featured vocalists; his third Duotones '86 went top ten USA, as did fourth (instrumental) Silhouette '88; Live '89 was made in Seattle, Breathless '92 reached no. 2, with two vocal tracks, by Peabo Bryson and Aaron Neville; his Christmas album '94 finally reached no. 1. It is rumoured that Hollywood will film his life story under the title 'Round About Noon.
