Donald's Blog

  This old house was only a few blocks from the state Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin. All the neighborhood cats lived in the basement during the winter. The house has long since been torn down, but in 1972 there were AR2ax speakers in the front room, and a lot of good music was heard there.

A Marvelous Independence Day

A Marvelous Independence Day
Today would be my father's 92nd birthday, and he would have been very happy to be with Ethne and me today, where we were blessed at our Fourth of July barbecue with the presence of our very own Private First Class David Clarke, and two of my grandchildren, David's niece and nephew, Melissa and Joshua Koeffler. A few years ago we were thousands of miles apart; now we can easily spend a holiday together. How the world turns!

Pictures taken with a telephone don't seem to translate well onto the blog page, and my cheap-and-cheerful format doesn't permit me to insert more than one picture at a time, but here is Joshua and David, wading in Lehigh Valley Park. Josh has overcome some serious health problems, soon to become a teacher of mathematics. What a pleasure it was to see him today for the first time in much too long!
